How can we help?

The Good Schools Guide Advice Service is a consultancy run by The Good Schools Guide.

It is a personal service for individual families on any and every aspect of educating children.

Most commonly our schools and education consultants work to help parents find the right school for their child, whether state, independent, junior, senior, day or boarding.

Why us and not another organisation?

'Our advisors are hand-picked experts'

Because The Good Schools Guide Advice Service is a personal service, run on a one-to-one basis, we can help you in whatever way you need us to. You tell us what you need and we tell you how we can help. And then we do!

Helping you choose between two schools to providing a full application service, carrying out school applications on your behalf.

We are also able to provide a long-term mentoring service for your children, as they grow from one school to the next. Our experts can keep in contact and be there when needed. We can act as an intermediary between you and the school even attending parent teacher meetings on your behalf.

We can also offer you help with:

  • Tutoring and tutor agencies
  • Special Educational Needs
  • Assessments of your child's maths and English prior to application for a school place
  • Help and advice for relocating families

  • Lightning fast help for clients in a hurry

The Good Schools Guide Advisors

Select the right school

The Guide itself is only a glimpse of this unique bank of inside knowledge and experience.

Our advisors are our most experienced writers, editors and consultants; hand-picked experts who visit hundreds of schools, talk with heads, with parents and with pupils. We can put our expertise and our wide network of personal contacts to work for you and your children.

Independent, impartial advice

Unlike most 'independent' educational advisors who have arrangements with a small selection of schools and receive payment for each new pupil they introduce, we take no commission from schools. Therefore, the schools we recommend for you and your child are based entirely on what you tell us matters to you - nothing else.

The advice that we give is completely independent.

Examples of what we do

Moving on to senior school

Your child is 9 and you are exploring his senior school options. You could move house and you are considering paying for independent education. But where do you look? How do you start? We will introduce you to a personal advisor who will listen to everything you are looking for in a school and will research a list covering all your requirements – even in different parts of the country. Then, if you wish, she will help you through the application process.

Or...

Living overseas, seeking to board in the UK

You are living overseas but you want to send your child to board in the UK. He is dead keen on sailing and will need to keep up his Arabic. Oh, and the school must be near an airport. Can we help? Of course! You will tell your advisor exactly what you need and he will help you find it, guiding you every step of the way.

Or...

You need to find a new school fast

We hope it doesn't happen but your daughter has been badly bullied and her school is not dealing with it properly. You need to move her – fast.  Call us. We will find you a sympathetic, knowledgeable and effective advisor who will be on the case at once.
