Has this happened to you? My son was set homework over Christmas to make Persian armour for a re-enactment of the Persian vs Spartan battle the first week of term. On arriving at school, with his bits of painted cardboard, made by his own fair hands, and stuck together with sellotape in the car on the way. He burst into tears at the elaborate battle dresses created by parents who had obviously taken a design and engineering course over the holiday. Too much one-upmanship surely for a bunch of 10 year olds. It makes me want to scream....
