What says..

Boys eloquent about universal quality of teaching at every stage. By the time we’d dropped into some of the lessons – year 12 pupils debating Satan’s seductive but dangerous humanist perspective in Paradise Lost; A level drama students uncovering the super objectives of their characters in a Sam Shepard play, while boys in year 11 Latin worked out who killed Germanicus (definitely not Colonel Mustard in the library with a revolver – illness rather than foul play the likely cause) – so were we. ‘You’re bound to get kids with exceptional ability – so you have to be good at something...'

What the school says...

St Paul's is an independent school offering an outstanding, all-round education for gifted boys aged 13 to 18 years. We draw upon our long and outstanding tradition to equip them for their future, intellectually, spiritually and physically.
Our pupils reflect the diversity of London and we are true to our founder's commitment to educating boys 'from all nacions and countres indifferently'.
We have high expectations of our pupils, in terms of their academic commitment and attainment, and their personal qualities of respect, tolerance, kindness and service.
Our unique tutoring system provides pupils with individual pastoral care which promotes their independence while offering support and guidance, and which informs and involves parents.
Financial support for the school fees is available for entry at all age-groups, but especially at 11+ (to St Paul's Juniors), 13+ and 16+.

High Master

Since 2020, Mrs Sally-Anne Huang. Degree in classics and English from Oxford followed by an MA and an MSc. Married to Alexis and has two adult sons. Previous headships at James Allen’s Girls’ School (there for six years) and Kent College. Before that, roles as deputy head at Roedean and housemistress at Sevenoaks School.

Education proved a wise move, swift promotions quickly leading to first headship. She was ‘thrilled’ to be appointed high master. ‘After a certain point, you know there are only certain headships that would provide the right level of challenge.’

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Special Education Needs

The Department comprises two specialist teachers and a part-time administrator. The teachers have post-graduate qualifications in specialist teaching of pupils with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. They keep in regular contact with both tutors and subject teachers, as appropriate. The specialist teachers also offer advice to colleagues on how best to support a pupil within academic subject lessons. They also offer one-to-one sessions where some additional support is required outside of lessons for either a short period of time or for longer if required. We welcome input from parents, as they are able to shed valuable light on the way that their son behaves at home and the challenges he faces in his academic studies. This joined up approach between the pupils themselves, the Learning Support Department, teachers, tutors and parents allows the pupils to flourish. The Learning Support Department is able to conduct initial in-house screening and can advise parents as to how they may obtain specialist advice to obtain formal diagnosis of conditions such as dyslexia or Developmental Coordination Disorder [DCD/dyspraxia] or other specific learning difficulties.
