Since 2020, Mrs Sally-Anne Huang. Degree in classics and English from Oxford followed by an MA and an MSc. Married to Alexis and has two adult sons. Previous headships at James Allen’s Girls’ School (there for six years) and Kent College. Before that, roles as deputy head at Roedean and housemistress at Sevenoaks School.
Opted for teaching out of love of her subject after realising that first choice – journalism - involved extracting stories from people ‘at a difficult time in their lives’. Education proved a wise move, swift promotions quickly leading to first headship. She was ‘thrilled’ to be appointed high master. ‘After a certain point, you know there are only certain headships that would provide the right level of challenge.’

Special Education Needs
The Department comprises two specialist teachers and a part-time administrator. The teachers have post-graduate qualifications in specialist teaching of pupils with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. They keep in regular contact with both tutors and subject teachers, as appropriate. The specialist teachers also offer advice to colleagues on how best to support a pupil within academic subject lessons. They also offer one-to-one sessions where some additional support is required outside of lessons for either a short period of time or for longer if required. We welcome input from parents, as they are able to shed valuable light on the way that their son behaves at home and the challenges he faces in his academic studies. This joined up approach between the pupils themselves, the Learning Support Department, teachers, tutors and parents allows the pupils to flourish. The Learning Support Department is able to conduct initial in-house screening and can advise parents as to how they may obtain specialist advice to obtain formal diagnosis of conditions such as dyslexia or Developmental Coordination Disorder [DCD/dyspraxia] or other specific learning difficulties.
