Children generally arrive after three or four previous school placements have broken down. They will be rigorously assessed, including for their potential impact upon the other pupils. A fair proportion will be turned down on this basis, but 40 per cent of the intake has a secondary diagnosis of autism, and school says the behaviour is often the result of ASD which hasn’t been dealt with. ‘If we take a child we are 99 per cent sure we can be successful’.

Coxlease School is an independent specialist day school with an outstanding Ofsted report. It has an excellent reputation for providing highly effective education, care, therapy, welfare and support for girls and boys aged 5 to 19 who have difficulties with their emotional, social and mental health, as well as other complex needs often associated with autistic spectrum conditions.
