As with all GSGI links, we only add the ones we like, have used, or think could be useful. These recommended links for expats in Brussels have been recommended by GSGI editors or readers. In some cases, the links take you to a website for which we provided some of the content (so naturally we think it's excellent!).
The books and films have been recommended by our readers and editors. Unless mentioned, most are available at booksellers or on line. If you have a recommendation we should add to this list, we'd love to hear it (contact us).
Taxi Book - contains all the main hotels, restaurants, tourist sites, shops and vitals such as hospitals and Embassies, and with their names and addresses given in Chinese characters, pinyin (the phonetic spelling system) and of course English. Indispensable when you first arrive; you can show it to a driver who will then know where you want to go.
Insider’s Guide to Beijing - written for people who live in the city rather than the tourist.
Wild Swans by Jung Chang - the biographies of three generations of Chinese women.
Raising the Red Lantern
