We've reviewed this school • Unlock to access

A small school with a big heart that stands proudly within the crowded school space of New York City. While the lower school has always been a popular choice, the growing upper school suits families attracted by internationally recognised qualifications and the more bespoke environment the school provides.

The school is a familiar and welcoming home-from-home for incoming English-speaking international/diplomatic families and an attractive local alternative for New Yorkers too.

What the school says

Welcome to BIS-NY, a school for pupils aged 3 to 18, where students embark on their journey to a successful future, discover the opportunity and excitement of a challenging and rewarding education that is truly global and, for many, begin their New York schooling adventure.

At BIS-NY, children are at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make, whatever their age, and we know that a happy child is a successful child. It's part of what sets us apart: our child-first approach, our global perspective and our warm welcome.

BIS-NY is the only school in NYC to offer a combination of the English National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate from nursery 3s through year 9 (US 8th grade), as well as the Cambridge-certified IGCSE and A level programmes in our upper school. This unique blend encourages our students to engage in their lessons with an inquiry-based approach, creating meaningful connections between the subjects, and diving into the 'why' we’re learning this and 'how' we can apply our learning to the world around us.

For families embarking on those first steps into school, for our local NY families, and for those based elsewhere and planning a relocation to New York, we’re here to help. We know just how daunting it can be to find and select a school and so we’re here to lend support, making choices and transitions as seamless as possible for all the family.
