Pushy mothers are attempting to apply for top private schools before they have even conceived, heads have said as educational experts claim demand has gone "bonkers".

Other signs of an ‘overheated market’ for some of the best schools in London include reports of mothers timing their caesarean delivers at the best time to guarantee a better success of securing a place for their child.
