What The Good Schools Guide says..
Wowzers results when you consider that nearly half the pupils are bilingual (over 60 different nationalities), nearly half are on pupil premium and five per cent have EHCPs. ‘Think big, work hard, be kind,’ is – lest the students forget - plastered across banners, appears on student resources and uttered by most teachers in most lessons. By and large, the message gets through, with high participation rates in class and really good questioning in particular a two way street. Teachers here don’t just go to the students with their hands up - mini whiteboards, group conversations and good…

What The Good Schools Guide says
Head
Since 2020, Matthew Sadler BA PGCE. Newcastle born and bred. Started here as a newly qualified teacher in 2010 (the same day as previous head). Was an assistant head at a school in Chiswick and deputy head at a school in Sutton before returning to the fold. Attended his local comp, Kenton School; history degree from Cambridge; PGCE from IoE. Teaching ‘sort of’ in the blood as both parents were teachers, albeit for a short time. Grounded, benevolent and surprisingly mellow given his extreme efficiency. Big on social justice and closing education gaps for those with disadvantaged backgrounds, he loves nothing more than the idea of a ‘proper comp with a genuinely comprehensive intake’, making him the perfect fit. Also refuses to run ‘an exclusive sixth form that isn’t geared towards the school’s cohort’,...

Special Education Needs
SEN provision is very strong in Hampstead school and the staff strive to include all students regardless of their needs. The school is keen to stress that it is not specialist in any key area but is always willing to acquire the necessary skills in order to support its students. 09-09

Interpreting catchment maps
The maps show in colour where the pupils at a school came from*. Red = most pupils to Blue = fewest.
Where the map is not coloured we have no record in the previous three years of any pupils being admitted from that location based on the options chosen.
For help and explanation of our catchment maps see: Catchment maps explained

If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.
Admissions criteria are often complicated, and may change from year to year. The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.
Many schools admit children based on distance from the school or a fixed catchment area. For such schools, the cut-off distance will vary from year to year, especially if the school give priority to siblings, and the pattern will be of a central core with outliers (who will mostly be siblings). Schools that admit on the basis of academic or religious selection will have a much more scattered pattern.
*The coloured areas outlined in black are Census Output Areas. These are made up of a group of neighbouring postcodes, which accounts for their odd shapes. These provide an indication, but not a precise map, of the school’s catchment: always refer to local authority and school websites for precise information.
The 'hotter' the colour the more children have been admitted.
