What the school says...

Tranby consistently achieves excellent academic results both at GCSE and A Level. A strong pastoral system complements innovative teaching and extra-curricular activities are varied and challenging. Participation in sport, music and drama is strongly encouraged as well as an active involvement in both the school and local communities. With an ethos of 'the best in everyone,' the school has a successful history of nurturing, motivating and inspiring our pupils to shine.

The 2010 ISI inspection report summarizes the schools key strengths as:

The reflective and encouraging culture of the school provides an environment in which pupils thrive, becoming willing, independent learners. The personal development of the pupils is excellent and is a significant strength of the school, meeting its aims to care for and respect pupils, and to nurture each individual. Pupils are willing learners, working well both independently and in groups. Pupils respond to the schools high expectations of achievement, conduct and work. The pupils are thoughtful and considerate of others, and the nurturing of these attitudes creates a happy atmosphere where they feel comfortable and secure. Cambridge Pre-U - an alternative to A levels, with all exams at the end of the two-year course.

Other features

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Sports

Equestrian centre or equestrian team - school has own equestrian centre or an equestrian team.
