What the school says...

Seaford Head is an extremely successful and oversubscribed 11- 18 school. We are committed to ensuring all our children enjoy coming to school and achieve to their full potential. The combination of support and challenge that our staff provide ensures that all our students make outstanding progress and attain the very highest standards. Our students have access to the very latest technologies and work in a friendly, disciplined environment that is designed to meet the demands of the 21st century.

We have very high expectations with regard to attendance, behaviour and uniform and believe that achievement in all areas of school life should be rewarded and celebrated. We challenge our students to excel in academic, cultural and sporting activities.

We are committed to providing an excellent standard of education and a wide range of enrichment opportunities to enable our young people to thrive and develop. This pursuit of excellence is based on a strong – home partnership and we are constantly looking to find new ways to involve parents in their children’s education. We work closely with our children and their parents to ensure the school is offering an educational experience that is both engaging and rewarding.

We also encourage our students to become responsible and active citizens who are respectful of others. Students are rewarded for making a positive contribution to the life of the school and the wider community. Our ethos is encapsulated by our motto “Achieving Excellence Together” and underpinned by a set of values that all members of the school community abide by:

Seaford Head School’s Core Purpose:

To ensure every child achieves the very best that they can.

To inspire a love of learning and curiosity about the world in a safe and stimulating environment.

To encourage resilience, perseverance, motivation and ambition among the whole school community.

To produce confident citizens with high self-esteem, problem solving and decision making skills, able to embrace twenty first century life.

To promote all key skills, and specifically reading as a crucial skill and pleasurable activity.

To work as a cohesive community, supporting and enriching the life of other people in the world.

To participate fully, with a sense of moral and social responsibility, as citizens of this country and the world.

To promote democracy, mutual respect and the rule of law.

To be tolerant of different faiths, beliefs and sexual orientation.

To promote dignity, honesty, integrity and conscientiousness in all we do.

With this collective sense of purpose driving the school forward, we continue to build on the outstanding practice across all areas of the school. We are extremely proud of our school and extend a warm welcome to all our visitors.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Interpreting catchment maps

The maps show in colour where the pupils at a school came from*. Red = most pupils to Blue = fewest.

Where the map is not coloured we have no record in the previous three years of any pupils being admitted from that location based on the options chosen.

If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.

Admissions criteria are often complicated, and may change from year to year. The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.

Many schools admit children based on distance from the school or a fixed catchment area. For such schools, the cut-off distance will vary from year to year, especially if the school give priority to siblings, and the pattern will be of a central core with outliers (who will mostly be siblings). Schools that admit on the basis of academic or religious selection will have a much more scattered pattern.

*The coloured areas outlined in black are Census Output Areas. These are made up of a group of neighbouring postcodes, which accounts for their odd shapes. These provide an indication, but not a precise map, of the school’s catchment: always refer to local authority and school websites for precise information.

The 'hotter' the colour the more children have been admitted.
