What the school says...

There can be few schools which offer girls and boys such a breadth of education in the real sense, from academic excellence to success on the sports field, with so many opportunities to develop young people through music, drama and a plethora of other activities.

Ratcliffe’s core Catholic ethos, drawing upon its distinctive Rosminian heritage, is at the very heart of everything within the School and is widely proclaimed by parents as being the central strand of what has made the School the success that it is today. Fully inclusive in approach, the school seeks to nurture, develop and celebrate the gifts and talents of all of its students, regardless of background, as they develop into happy, respectful and caring young adults.

The School occupies a beautiful, rural location within 200 acres of rolling countryside, just a few miles north of Leicester. Easy to get to, Ratcliffe provides a totally self-contained campus with modern teaching facilities, elegant buildings, and full on-site sporting facilities. Most recently, a new £4.5 million Preparatory School building was opened.

The development of the all-round potential of each student is our priority, with the happiness and academic achievement of students central to our work. Public Examination results at all levels reflect the continued and on-going successes in this area. The vast majority of students go onto their first choice of university, most being Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge.

Alongside our provision for day students, boarding is also thriving within the School, with full, weekly and occasional options all used extensively.

The School was awarded "Excellent" in all nine categories at its ISI inspection in March 2015.

What the parents say...

I have two children in the senior school, and for both it has been absolutely the right choice. This is a school that encourages diversity and involvement in a range of activities. Everyone is encouraged to participate, and the school celebrates effort and achievement across the different areas. If you are not an academic star, you can be a sports team member, member of the many music groups, involved in the various drama activities, CCF, etc, etc, which means there are many different opportunities to shine. Effort is rewarded just as much, if not more so, than achievement. I have two very different children who have been supported to develop their different interests and abilities. They have a broad range of interests and have been encouraged to maintain and develop these. One has dyslexia, and has benefited from the school's learning support, and all her teachers have always been aware of this and been supportive. We are not Catholic, but this has not been an issue at all, and the school values and ethos are excellent. Very happy with our decision to send our children to this school, and would definitely recommend to others.

Our 2 children have both been at Ratcliffe since they were 3, benefitting hugely from the individual care in the excellent Nursery before moving through the Preparatory School into the Seniors. There is a genuine family atmosphere and we have never had an "I don't want to go to school" day from either of them. The staff recognise each child as an individual and the school is particularly good at encouraging and developing the particular talents of each, whether these are academic or in other areas. As Parents we have also enjoyed the opportunity to become involved in various school projects and social activities. Where children can remain at the same school from the age of 3 to 18 the choice of establishment is critical. We are confident that Ratcliffe College has been the right decision for us.

This is without doubt the best school you could ever wish to have your child attend. It is caring, supportive and encouraging. My son has been at Ratcliffe college since the nursery department and is currently in year 8. There has not been a day when this school has not delivered its promise to us. Ten years on and If we had to choose a school for my child it would still be this one. It is simply the best in every way.

Knowing the school well from my family connection I moved specifically from London to Leicestershire to send my 3 children. The school has turned my children's lives around. I cannot recommend it highly enough. My children have never been so happy, their results are fantastic and the pastoral care is outstanding. I cannot imagine where we would be without Ratcliffe College and its wonderful staff.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.
