What the school says...

Hurst Lodge is a school that believes in happy, confident children. When children feel relaxed and safe in their surroundings, have a wide circle of friends and a real love for school, they will be able to flourish and achieve their true potential in every sphere of school life. At Hurst Lodge outstanding academic results are achieved through small class sizes with dedicated members of staff giving freely of their time and expertise, wholly focused on the individual child. Pastoral care is of paramount importance.

The boys and girls learn independence and a positive self image through a broad academic curriculum, outstanding creative and performing arts and an exciting and varied extra-curricular programme. Citizenship and their responsibilities to the environment are taught through active practical activities, making full use of the extensive grounds and the schools own smallholding. Hurst Lodge enjoys a unique connection with the Eden Project in Cornwall which ensures a vibrant and relevant sustainability programme.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

But, concerned about the propriety of being both co-owner and head (her brother, Sir Tim Smit, started the Eden Project and the school belonged to their mother), she appointed another head in her place for a brief period. It didn’t work and Miss Smit is once again head.

This former Hurst Lodge girl, who ‘has been 23 years in the place,’ bounced into our meeting in rather fetching wellies, waterproof trousers and trackie top....
