What the school says...

Torquay Girls' Grammar School is a high performing and improving selective girls' school that values both academic and personal growth. Our recent Ofsted inspection rated the school outstanding in all 22 key judgements. Our ethos is around developing our 16 learning skills we feel are essential for success in any walk of life. We benefit from close collaboration with the Torquay Boys Grammar school over the road and together with 6 other South coast Grammar schools form the South West Academic Trust in association with Exeter University. We share exertise amongst staff and are committed to the education of bright students. We both care for our girls and challenge them. Our results have risen considerably over the past 4 years placing us amongst the top schools nationally.

Converted to an academy 2011.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

Not surprisingly in this jaunty institution, nobody within the school seems to bemoan their dreary abode. In fact...

Dr Nick Smith MB BS PGCE NPQH, a pragmatic, determined man in his late 40s, has been in the hot seat at TGGS since 2007. A qualified scientist who practised medicine for a couple of years - and yes, he did work at London Zoo looking after the penguins - he has brought the clear thinking of a trained empiricist to his...
