What the school says...

Lucton is a thriving, co-educational, independent day and boarding school. Set in historic buildings and idyllic countryside, we build on our 300 year heritage and traditions to provide a stimulating and forward-looking environment.
Lucton provides an exciting setting for young people to flourish academically and socially. The dedicated and enthusiastic teachers are committed to bringing out the full potential of each pupil whether in the class, on the sports field, in music, drama or through the many extra-curricular activities.
Small classes, a family atmosphere and a boarding house at the heart of the school, all combine to create a warm and homely place in which pupils feel accepted, valued and secure.
There can be few more important decisions than that of your child’s education; it is an investment for life. At Lucton, we recognise the enormity of the trust you as parents place in us, and our
responsibility to build firm foundations, instil moral values and bring out the very best in your child.

Special Education Needs

The school accepts applications from pupils who are of average or above average ability who, in the opinion of the headmistress and the governors, have the potential to benefit from the kind of education that Lucton School provides. In view of the small class sizes, pupils with mild learning difficulties can be accommodated and there is provision for parents to request one-to-one tuition at extra cost. The school is not able to provide for those with acute learning difficulties. There are three routes to entry: • most pupils join the school after an interview with the headmistress and a taster day or days spent at the school, during which their suitability is informally and formally assessed. Pupils following this route may join the school at any time during the year; • entrance examinations and interviews are held in January each year for entry into year 7; • entrance examinations and interviews are held in January each year for academically able pupils wishing to gain a scholarship.
