The King's School in Gloucester is a successful independent day school with 730 girls and boys aged three to eighteen. King's offers academic excellence, small class sizes, outstanding pastoral care and a wide range of sports, creative and performing arts opportunities.
Gloucester Cathedral is at the heart of the school, providing a special sense of identity and a powerful community unlike any other.
In 2023 over 50% of GCSE grades were 9-7 and at A Level, 59% of grades were A*-B, demonstrating academic success. However, the School’s ambition for its pupils goes beyond exam results; King’s prides itself on developing well-rounded individuals, ready to thrive in a rapidly-changing world.

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Special Education Needs

Our dedicated learning support department enables those pupils with specific learning difficulties to successfully access our academic curriculum. We welcome pupils with physical disabilities, provided that they are able to access all areas of the school site and our curriculum. Learning support is available in the junior and senior school and lessons are timetabled for pupils with specific learning needs. We request that parents discuss with us any specific learning needs and previous support the child has received at an early stage in the admissions process. Copies of any reports such as a specialist teacher assessment, educational psychologist’s report, or any medical reports are required well in advance. This will ensure that we are aware of the child’s background and allows us to assess our capacity and resources to meet their needs. The SENCo (special educational needs co-ordinator) is available to meet with parents and will arrange an informal discussion with the child and parents as necessary.
