About Immanuel College:
Immanuel College is an all-through, independent, mainstream school for students aged four to 18, located in Bushey, Hertfordshire. On the roll are 362 boys and 325 girls. The late Chief Rabbi Lord Immanuel Jakobovits established this school in 1990 as a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School.
The school is split into three sections: a Preparatory School, for children aged four to 11; the Senior School, for pupils aged 11 to 16; and Sixth Form, for students aged 16-18. The Preparatory School is part of IAPS and the College as a whole is a member of HMC.
Values and Vision
When Lord Jakobovits created the school, his aim was to give children the best chance in life, offering them the best form of education in both Jewish and secular studies. He wanted students to be part of society by following the values of their faith.
Immanuel College values modesty and respect, believing that every child is equal within the school. It follows the Torah, aiming to develop children who “act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with HaShem”. Teachers emphasise self-confidence, self-esteem and celebrate each individual pupil.
The school has three pillars, which underpin everything else: Academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care and inspiring Jewish life and learning.

Since September 2022, Dr Sachania, previously headmaster at Streatham & Clapham High School for over 10 years. He has held a number of high profile appointments in the educational sector, including serving on the Council of UCAS as the representative of the UK’s independent schools, and is a published music scholar.
Entrance
Around 180 apply for 90-96 places at 11+, with about 20 per cent coming up from the junior school. All sit multiple-choice papers in maths, English and reasoning. About 10 pupils admitted to sixth form, based on assessment and interview.

Special Education Needs
Immanuel College offers teaching and guidance for average to bright children who experience mild to moderate specific learning difficulties. We have a team of three teachers and two teaching assistants who are qualified in different aspects of student support. Teachers also liaise with staff across the curriculum to ensure that suitable provision is made. We enjoy good parental contact which benefits both them, the staff and students. We aim to provide a nurturing environment in which all students can achieve their potential.
