Since September 2015, Jonathan Hetherington BA MSc (30s) previously deputy head in charge of boarding. An English graduate who quit PGCE training first time round as ‘wasn’t ready’, was persuaded into the school by head of music (a Southampton Uni contemporary) initially to help with productions, then into English department, finally qualifying as a teacher through work-based graduate training programme and becoming head of boarding in 2011.

Special Education Needs
Remediation across the curriculum is individually planned. Language processing improved by five speech and language therapists. Occupational Therapy available. All staff attend specialised training to give a common approach. Although there is often a hidden remedial component to classwork, the aim is to give all boys a normal, happy experience of school.
