The college consistently comes out as one of the top institutions nationally for value-added exam results and it was awarded outstanding in every area at its last Ofsted inspection. The College is large but friendly and welcoming and acts as a social hub for many of the students who take full advantage of the wide range of extra curricula activities.

What the school says...

Hereford Sixth form College is a maintained sixth form college. It regularly gains one of the highest A level points scores per entry of nearly 100 sixth form colleges nationally and is rated Outstanding by Ofsted in all aspects of its work. The College was awarded Learning and Skills Beacon Status by the Department for education for its outstanding contribution to 16-19 education and in 2016 was given the Times Educational Supplement's 'Sixth Form College of the Year' award. But, it is more than a place to gain qualifications. It is a bridge between school and university where students develop skills, make new friends and become members of a vibrant and caring community. The College has excellent, purpose built facilities including a performing arts centre, recital room, recording studios, fitness centre, sportshall and all-weather pitches and a variety of student study and social spaces. Executive Principal

Since September 2017, Peter Cooper, who had already been deputy principal at the college for 18 years. Chemistry degree from Nottingham; has also worked at Kenilworth High School and Priestley College, Warrington. He is deeply committed to the college and to the sector, being a member of the national Sixth Form College Association's Curriculum and Quality Board since 2011. Enthusiastic in his advocacy of the sector, he runs a well-oiled large institution which focuses on the student experience and support. No money wasted here on layers of management. It is a lean machine and a personal one. Peter likes to be seen out and about in the college but always tries to make time for bridge club and his weekly staff football.
