Special Education Needs
The aim of Hensall school is to provide all children with the opportunity to reach their full potential. All children have equal access to all areas of the curriculum and their contributions are of equal value. There is a whole school approach to the identification, assessment, provision and review of children with SEN. The school works in partnership with parents to enable them to contribute to the education of their children. Pupils with SEN are mostly taught by their class teacher. There may be some sessions where they work individually or in small groups with a Teaching assistant, to address their specific targets. Where possible these sessions are timetabled to focus on the same curriculum area as being covered by the rest of the class. Through planning and teaching all staff endeavour to provide all children with suitable learning challenges, meet the pupils' diverse needs; minimise barriers to learning. Hensall school uses a graduated response to the early identification, assessment and provision of SEN, which is line with the Code of Practice.
