What the school says...

Our Lady of Lourdes High is a maintained, co-educational 11 - 16 school providing a Catholic education for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds. The school was established to serve the four parishes of Ballymoney, Dunloy - Cloughmills, Loughgiel and Rasharkin and now has pupils from other parishes in the North Antrim and North Derry areas. The school has a Learning Support Centre with 2 Units for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and it is a designated maintained school for children with physical disabilities.

The school is committed to providing: a high quality Catholic education, with a firm emphasis on Gospel values and pastoral care; good individual and team discipline; effective leadership at all levels; high academic achievement; and an Irish cultural identity through language, sport and music. Our Lady of Lourdes School achieved formal recognition as an Investor in People in June 2004. Year 8 admissions to the school increased notably in 2004-05 and 2005-06, despite fewer children leaving the contributory primary schools. The school achieved its highest ever GCSE and Key Stage 3 examination results in August 2005.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

Special Education Needs

Special Needs Provision The streaming arrangements in the school and an emphasis on differentiated learning and teaching ensure that the pupils learn at levels in line with their needs and abilities. For pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties, there are 2 specialist teachers and 2 specialist rooms in the MLD Resources Centre. Pupils with identified challenges in their learning are taught in smaller classes with appropriate support structures. Specific provision is made for pupils who have experienced an Irish-medium primary education.
