What The Good Schools Guide says..
Girls play hockey, as well as recently introduced tag rugby (Ulster champions in 2017), all play cricket and a range of minor sports are offered. All upper sixth take part in an interview day and former pupils who are at university come back and talk. The largest boarding contingent is from Hong Kong – many are the relatives of former pupils who came to Dungannon in the 1970s. Usually over 40 in at weekends and staff put on an activities programme, maybe baking or a trip to a shopping centre or Belfast...

Special Education Needs
The school’s special educational needs co-ordinator provides individual education plans and, with the team of domestic/classroom assistants, helps pupils who have a disability or specific learning need. There is careful integration with day-to-day teaching and extra-curricular life to ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and enjoy school in full. For pupils whose first language is not English there is support from TEFL teachers (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) through after-school classes and, with the help of tutors and teachers, in some timetabled lessons. There is a strong focus on helping new pupils improve both their conversational English to help them settle and make friends and also their written English to help with their studies. The school also offers a specialist counselling service, provided by the Department of Education Independent Counselling Service for Schools and operated via Family Works Counselling. This is an excellent additional service which supplements the pastoral system and supports pupils who are facing a significant difficulty in or out of school.
