Head Teacher

Since 2002, Mrs Margaret Coates (50s), previously head of infants and juniors at Durham High, before that at RGS Newcastle. Studied English at Westminster College, Oxford. Warm, welcoming, articulate and astute with an obvious love of children. Is well known and knows pupils well; they are comfortable but respectful in her company, though little ones seem to make it ‘hug a head day’ every day.
