Since 2020, Eddy Newton, previously principal of the Cothill Trust, overseeing seven prep schools, and before that, head of Chafyn Grove for 11 years. Grew up in Lancashire (brother is City, he’s United - ‘I defiantly chose the other team!’). BA in classics and PGCE, both from Jesus College, Cambridge. ‘I don’t remember wanting to be anything else,’ he says of teaching. Background in independent schools spanning London, Oxford, Essex and Salisbury. Subject specialism in Latin and sport. He ‘wanted to be in the position to make the biggest impact’, taking on the challenge of headship after attending a senior leadership conference, where he was horrified to find that ‘the least impressive people were heads’ (he loves a challenge – having just run 100km over the South Downs to Brighton).

Marlborough House School aspires to unlock potential in every pupil, providing each child with an education tailored to his or her strengths and needs. Our aim is to ensure that the Learning Support department delivers fun support sessions designed with an individual focus, aiming to engage pupils and support them to become self-motivated learners.
