What The Good Schools Guide says..
In the classrooms, we observed fun, interactive lessons and the teachers clearly know their pupil’s strengths and weaknesses. ‘It’s been fantastic for my girls and I couldn’t fault it,’ one parent told us. The atmosphere on the day of our visit was buzzy, with pupils practising instruments at one end of the corridor, and a class enthusiastically reading through their parts for a production of Charlie and the Chocolate factory at the other. We certainly heard no complaints about the teachers, with parents commenting that they are ‘fantastic practitioners’ who are ‘incredibly committed’ and ‘throw themselves into school life’. There have been some grumbles from parents of older pupils that…

What The Good Schools Guide says
Head
Since 2020, Simon Kibler BA (Leicester). Twinkly eyed, warm and with a zest for life. Clearly feels very at home in North Yorkshire after many years down south – loves the fact that people are ‘very straight in Yorkshire, as there’s no point hiding things’. Formerly deputy head at Dover College, he has been working in independent education for his whole career in both prep and senior schools and says ‘boarding is in my blood’. He and his wife Kate have previously been houseparents at Abbotsholme School in Derbyshire and Milton Abbey School in Dorset, where he was also assistant head. They have four children, with the two youngest girls at Terrington.
On duty at 7.15am, knows every pupil’s name and meets and greets them and their parents at the...

Special Education Needs
Our priority is to ensure that all children at Terrington Hall achieve their full potential with positivity, confidence and self-esteem. Our resources are centred around the Learning Support Hub - a bright, warm and welcoming classroom staffed by our special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) and a part time teaching assistant. They work across the academic departments to provide and plan support for all children. This may include targeted interventions, online intervention programmes, classroom support, and small group work. We work closely with children, their parents and our staff team to ensure that learning support is positive and personal. We believe in inclusion and seek to provide a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that provides equal opportunities for all. Treating every child as an individual is important to us and we welcome all children with learning support needs as long as our staff team can provide them with the support they require.
