Situated in an impressive, leafy campus of 55 acres on the edge of Oxshott village, Danes Hill offer a very broad and diverse curriculum, outstanding pastoral care, extensive extra-curricular opportunities and impressive sporting, music and teaching facilities ensure that the children benefit from a high quality education where the individual is recognised, valued and encouraged to develop talents and pursue excellence.
The school has many strengths, including: Sport, Music, Drama and Art; modern language teaching - children learning French throughout the school and Spanish from Year 4; Year 8 children are encouraged to sit a GCSE in a Modern Foreign Language candidates achieve top grades.

Head
Since April 2022, Maxine Shaw. Educated at Bedford High School before moving to Pilgrim’s School for sixth form. Studied environmental sciences at Queen Mary’s College and did her PGCE at Bishop Grosseteste in Lincoln. Having started off teaching in state schools, she then moved to the independent sector in 2001, when she became deputy head, then head, of Pilgrim’s Pre-Prep in Bedford, followed by headships at Hazelwood Prep School and St Paul’s Juniors (Colet Court). She is a team inspector for ISI and a director of IAPS. She has three adult children and enjoys gardening, cooking and entertaining, alongside long walks with her partner and faithful Labrador, Freddie.

Special Education Needs
Any decision Danes Hill School makes is child-centred. The school will take all reasonable measures to support a child, making practical adjustments where required to ensure accessibility to the curriculum. They have a Learning Support Department which works in conjunction with the teaching staff and the parents to support, in certain cases, a range of mild difficulties. Before a place is offered at Danes Hill, they carry out an assessment to ensure that children are suited to mainstream school. The most important thing is to ensure every child enjoys life as a pupil at Danes Hill School and can reach their full potential.
