Cottesmore attracts a niche of parents who hanker after a traditional boarding environment, calling into question, for us, the head’s recent high-profile foray into the world of AI. Expansive green spaces and sports pitches surround the main building, with trails disappearing into the forest. Nestled among the trees is the school lake, well stocked with fish and host to many summer pursuits such as boating and paddleboarding. The school farm, the Croft, is popular. Headmaster
Since 2008, Tom Rogerson. Educated at Eton and Cambridge. Grew up at Cottesmore and has taken on the family tradition from father and grandfather as the third Rogerson to run the school. Has also taught at Ludgrove, Eaton House and Broomwood.
Lives in a wing of the school with wife and sons. A photo from his wedding to Lottie is prominently displayed on a side table in his study. While he is the charm and energy of the school, she is the project manager and details person. Our visit would not have stayed on schedule had she not kept things moving along.
