What The Good Schools Guide says..
One curriculum area which is outstanding is computing. They have piloted a one iPad per child project and are now putting iMacs into every classroom. Any child who has achieved gold or better for 20 weeks becomes an ambassador. Children wear a school uniform with a blue sweatshirt but the ambassadors have a grey sweatshirt, and sit on a separate table

A primary day school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Some pupils also have learning difficulties. Part of The Witherslack Group of schools. Achieved an excellent Ofsted report in March 2018 and full approval from the DfES in June 2005.

Head teacher
Since 2007, Sue Asher, formerly deputy at Pontville, a secondary special school in Ormskirk for children with communication difficulties and related conditions, and prior to that, deputy at Westmorland. Originally a primary teacher, she has more than 20 years' experience in special education. Described by staff as being very much a people person, she is a visible presence in the corridors and classrooms. She arranges a loan scheme for pupils who can take a teddy home on a Friday and bring him back on Monday. Nurture is a crucial element of Westmorland provision.

Most pupils admitted to the school have autistic spectrum conditions; many have behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
