All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Special Education Needs

The Learning Support Department aims to provide individual structured programmes and additional help for those children requiring support for their learning difficulties. Learning Support is provided in the following ways: *On a one-to-one basis or occasionally in small teaching groups (referred to as 'tutorials'). Learning Support staff qualified in teaching children with Specific Learning Difficulties will direct these lessons. (Arrangements for this form of tuition are currently made by the Learning Support Co-ordinator, in consultation with the Senior Management Team). *In mainstream classes, where all staff will have an understanding of the difficulties each pupil is experiencing, and should be fully aware of the pupils' current concerns. The Learning Support Programme is supervised and monitored by a well qualified and experienced Learning Support Co-ordinator. 10-09
