What the school says...

“A ‘culture of excellence’ lies at the heart of all that happens at Kentmere”. Ofsted 2018

Kentmere Academy and Nursery is an Ofsted Outstanding school with a history of success and high-performance attainments. We would encourage you to read our Ofsted Report as it will tell you why we are one of just a few primary schools in Rochdale to be awarded Outstanding, the highest rating that can be achieved. Our academic excellence, a tailored curriculum, pastoral care, and extra-curricular programmes are of the highest quality and are the cornerstones of the school. We have clear values that all of the school community respects and demonstrates.

We value academic success, where every pupil is nurtured and encouraged to fulfill their full potential. Our reputation is excellent in the local area and beyond, with Kentmere Academy and Nursery being an increasingly popular choice.

We believe that working in partnership with parents is very important and we encourage you to be involved in the school. Parents are invited into school twice a year to meet with teachers to discuss your child’s progress and all pupils receive a progress report in the summer. We also invite parents to come into school assemblies and other events that take place throughout the year.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Special Education Needs

Kentmere Academy is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all pupils. We believe that all children, including those identified as having SEN have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum, which is accessible to them and to be fully included in all aspects of school life. We believe that all children should be equally valued in school. We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe. We are committed to inclusion. Part of the school’s strategic planning for improvement is to develop cultures, policies, and practices that include all children. We aim to engender a sense of community and belonging, and to offer new opportunities to learners who may have experienced previous difficulties. For more information on our SEND provision, as well as up to date resources on SEND provision within the local authority, please visit https://www.kentmereacademy.co.uk/images/uploads/files/SEN_local_offer_-_Kentmere_Academy_17-18-_new.pdf

Interpreting catchment maps

The maps show in colour where the pupils at a school came from*. Red = most pupils to Blue = fewest.

Where the map is not coloured we have no record in the previous three years of any pupils being admitted from that location based on the options chosen.

If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.

Admissions criteria are often complicated, and may change from year to year. The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.

Many schools admit children based on distance from the school or a fixed catchment area. For such schools, the cut-off distance will vary from year to year, especially if the school give priority to siblings, and the pattern will be of a central core with outliers (who will mostly be siblings). Schools that admit on the basis of academic or religious selection will have a much more scattered pattern.

*The coloured areas outlined in black are Census Output Areas. These are made up of a group of neighbouring postcodes, which accounts for their odd shapes. These provide an indication, but not a precise map, of the school’s catchment: always refer to local authority and school websites for precise information.

The 'hotter' the colour the more children have been admitted.
