What the school says...
We are a centre of excellence for students with Social, Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), challenging behaviour and additional complex needs like Autism, Attachment Disorders, need for Nurture, Speech, Lang & Learning Difficulties, Aspergers, ADD, ADHD, OCD, ODD, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia.
We succeed with these students where other Mainstream, Special & Residential schools could not. All our students have Statements, and many have been excluded from other Special or Mainstream schools.
Our approach has four key elements.
Nurture-based - we provide the love and care that many of these troubled children need.
Nurture - supported by tough-love, boundaries, a strong focus on progress and on positive outcomes.
A very high staff ratio.Standard provision has a staff-to-student mix of between 1:1 and 1:3, enhanced provision is 2:1.
Separate SEBD sites, each with a different environment. We place students in the environment that is best for them. These are for those who: are particularly vulnerable; cannot be alongside other students; will make better progress in small classes and for girls who will progress better in a girls-only environment.
We have a strong focus on positive outcomes, and every child has a differentiated plan for their education, care and health. We follow the National Curriculum, individually tailored to take into account each student's statement. Our Curriculum has 5 modules: Academic, Creative, Emotional, Physical and Vocational. We support individual talents and interests, and provide extra tutoring for this. ...Read more
