What The Good Schools Guide says..
'It is not about bringing home a grade on a piece of paper. It's about making something beautiful and useful to talk about,' said one member of staff, while another pointed out that students have a fresh start at the college because, 'No one comes here with a history of failure in spoon forging'. Spoon forging is also an intellectual and emotional process that challenges the learner. It requires decision-making, attention, confidence and an ability to cope with failure as the materials may be unforgiving and offer no second chance. At the end of the year there is a celebration of student achievement in a one of the big halls at Sheffield Hallam University. Just like a graduation ceremony it is a public celebration of a threshold moment in their students' lives.

Principal
Since 2020, Angie Iversen Principal.
Entrance
Students can start at different times through the year and those that start in September are welcoming to those who start later in the year. There is a three day assessment at the college and in a residential setting if appropriate. The baseline is to identify whether they can they meet the students' needs. The real issues come before the application and assessment. Many families expend time, energy and money on tribunals and are exhausted. One mother commented: 'She had to be part of it and although she was spared a lot, it was a horrendous process to get through.'
