What the school says...

Seadown School is Child Firsts independent education provision, registered with Ofsted with 'Good' rating, to educate students aged 6 to 16 years and able to offer placements to both residential and day students.

Recognising that education and achievement are the cornerstone of a young persons development, Seadown School aims to instil effective communication skills to enable students to develop their social skills, confidence and respect as self-advocates and in interactions with others. We encourage students to explore, question and challenge, thereby increasing their awareness and understanding of their environment and the wider world.

Seadown School offers a broad and balanced curriculum in core and non-core subjects to gain a range of qualifications including GCSEs, ASDAN qualifications, functional skills and Food Hygiene, Fire Safety and First Aid.

Our highly-trained staff are experienced in working with young people with a variety of educational needs including dyslexia, autistic spectrum, ADHD and BESD and employ effective behavioural management techniques. Where necessary staff offer one-to-one classroom support and provide individualised educational programs. We also support students in their transition to college and, in gaining work experience placements in Years 10 and 11.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.
