New baby room brings children from as young as nine weeks to the school. Class sizes are never more than 20 in reception and increasing numbers have led to the opening of a second class in several year groups. Lots of play but a strong emphasis of preparation for learning with some modern languages in pre-school. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Began her teaching career in state primaries before moving to Manchester, studying for a master's in education and becoming deputy head in leafy Cheshire at the age of 28. This was followed by a secondment to support a failing school in inner-city Manchester and then a move overseas as deputy director at the British International School in Istanbul.
