What the school says...

At Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School, our aim is to introduce children to the joys of learning. We believe that every child brings their own unique talents and strengths into the classroom and we are here to bring them out, to build confidence in their natural abilities and to create strong, independent individuals who care about others, embrace new challenges and have a growing awareness of the world around them. We enjoy being a small school with small classes and know all students personally and benefitting from the larger facilities as part of The Wakefield Grammar School Foundation. Alongside top academics, our signature features include a Little Leaders programme, WOW Week, Philosophy of The Day, Forest School and we anticipate receiving the Mental Health for Schools award by The Carnegie Centre of Excellence. ...Read more

Other features

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Special Education Needs

Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School is a selective school. If pupils have ability that enables them to cope in an academically challenging environment but require support for any specific difficulties, this support will be available. We have a Learning Support Department with more than one specialist teacher. We work on a withdrawal basis, which can be for 1:1 work or with a small group following a guided reading programme, which would follow a study skills programme and exam techniques for examinations.
