Lower school follows (somewhat expensive) international primary curriculum which seems sensible when you realise it was designed by Shell, taught globally and Albyn is an international oily school. IPC is thematic based, with rather natty books to be filled in when ‘I understand’. Terrific exposure to all manner of cultures: this is exciting stuff.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. Other features

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Since April 2015, Paul Bertolotto (late 30s but looks just out of uni) BEd MEd ChT CREDL (another ridiculously over-qualified headmaster). Educated at St Augustine’s in Edinburgh, followed by Edinburgh uni, he thought ‘long and hard’ about accepting the job in Aberdeen. Oil was in free-fall, and Aberdeen well supplied with independent schools (four at last count). But the upshot of it all is that he and his wife bought the house of their dreams for considerably less than they first thought of. Bertolotto previously spent 11 years at Edinburgh Academy junior school and is ecstatic about the Aberdeen young: ‘bright, bouncy and engaged’.
