Large, bustling infant school (three forms per year group, with 25 children in each form) housed in a beautiful, modern, architect-designed building. Bright, airy classrooms. Large outdoor spaces with plenty of colourful equipment; ‘we have lessons out there in the real fresh air,’ a year 2 girl tells us. Lots of computers (all classes have their own blog) and kindles for reading; iPads soon to be available for all. ‘Parents are blown away by the facilities when they first come here,’ said one parent. Since 2015, Mrs Tracey Taylor, BEd and NPQH from Edge Hill College, formerly head of Adlington Primary School in Chorley. Mrs Taylor began her teaching career as a reception and year 1 class teacher and has a passion for teaching in the early years.


Play-based, one-to-one assessment in the autumn of year prior to reception entry, with places offered in December. ‘No formal skills in reading and maths required. We’re looking for bright-eyed, curious children who ask questions’. If places become available in years 1 and 2 children are tested in reading, writing and numeracy.
