What says..

A lot at Knighton happens in fresh air. They play outside in their dens, make up games with bits of sticks, climb trees and converse with ponies, goats, hamsters etc. We watched them at it. A delight. What they (arguably) do best indoors is sing. The music-making tradition here is as old as the ponies. Overnighting and weekending joyously popular because the boarding staff are lovely and make it such fun, and the head of boarding is a force of nature...

What the school says...

In 2020 we celebrated our 70th anniversary year, one in which we cemented a closer relationship with Bryanston School and welcomed boys up to Year 8.

The merger between us and Bryanston School brings new opportunities, ambitious aspirations and a clear vision for the future. Now as part of the Bryanston family, Bryanston Knighton House will have access to world-class facilities from music, drama, D&T, sport and more.

The BKH ethos is to truly understand how each child learns by giving them time, nurture and inspiration to find their passion for a love of learning.

Outdoor adventure and embracing the wonders of our beautiful Dorset countryside setting, is woven into the fabric of our curriculum alongside a commitment to teach empathy, kindness and compassion at all ages.

The strength of the merger between Bryanston and Knighton House is a clear vision: to guide pupils as they develop into confident, curious, open-minded and kind members of society. We do this by enabling creative and rigorous thinking. What they will have learned here matters, but how they learned it matters more.

Learning is a lifelong journey for us all. There is a culture at Bryanston Knighton House that celebrates the individual spirit within each child. This will always be at the centre of our aspirations for every boy and girl. Our job is to nurture, encourage and guide every pupil to realise their own abilities and passions.

As quoted by Will Lockett, our headmaster, "I am deeply committed to leading a school where each child will look back at their time with us and say with their hand on their heart – I loved my school days at Bryanston Knighton House."

What The Good Schools Guide says

Head

Since September 2021, Will Lockett, previously head of Abberley Hall in Worcestershire and before that housemaster at Bryanston school, so knows this part of the world and the landscape for independent schools well. A classicist, he was educated at Winchester and Manchester University and then worked in engineering before finding his vocation as a teacher. ‘The strength of the merger between Bryanston and Knighton House is a clear vision - to guide pupils as they develop into confident, curious, open-minded and kind members of society,’ he told us. ‘We do this by enabling creative and rigorous thinking. What they will have learned here matters, but how they learned it matters more.’

Entrance

Non-selective. Come any time so long as there’s room. Invariably an ongoing swelling of numbers by children unhappy at their present school. Taster days....
