What The Good Schools Guide says..
Year 8s were busy self-assessing their chemical equations and year 6 were having a round table discussion in the hub about Plato’s cave. Teaching of core skills is robust. The school’s grounds are unrivalled locally and if that wasn’t enough, it’s only 15 minutes from the Jurassic Coast, of which they make full use. According to one parent, ‘The small size of the school does mean match selections is tricker, but you can’t have it all. Maybe it’s made up for by the phenomenal...
What the school says...
Set in a truly idyllic 60 acre setting between Poole and Wimborne, the school has a well established and enviable academic record, but complements this with a strong musical and artistic tradition and excellent contacts with national sportsmen and coaches. Since 2020 the school has adopted the Pre Senior Baccalaureate (PSB) programme.
At its heart, the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate has a knowledge rich, academically robust curriculum where subjects are taught using nationally agreed and moderated subject strands. However, there is an equal emphasis on nurturing the core learning attributes for life: thinking and learning, reviewing and improving, collaboration, communication, independence and leadership. This approach - based on substantiated educational research and increasingly demanded by senior schools - is at the heart of the education provided at Castle Court. This approach has helped ensure that over recent years our children have not only been able to gain scholarships at their senior schools of choice, but it has also provided the children with the resilience needed to help them navigate an ever changing and challenging world. To find out more, please put on your comfy shoes and come and explore our school and the 60 acres of grounds, sports fields, and woodland. ...Read more

Special Education Needs
Our hope is that all the children will be able to keep up with the general pace of academic life in the school, but we appreciate that, for some children to reach their full potential usually those with mild to moderate dyslexia or dyspraxia) a little extra support may be needed. An attractive purpose-built suite of rooms in a quiet part of the school provides a welcoming environment for those children with special needs. The department is well-equipped, including up-to-date computer software for pupils with mild learning difficulties. Four suitably qualified staff are able to deliver teaching programmes, generally on a one-to-one basis, tailored to meet the needs of the individual child. In the junior part of the school we also provide assistance in the classroom, either to individuals or to small groups, as the need arises.
