A very shiny and exquisitely maintained school, where even the teachers - blonde, long limbed, healthy - look as though they have stepped out of their own teachers’ version of Tatler. Any learning difficulties are identified quickly, says head. School sets high standards for reading and writing, and tracks development and progress in-house with a reading test as well as SEN assessment...

Headteacher
Since 2010, Angela Barr BA Ed (50s). Has been head since school started. Previously head of the lower school at Pembridge Hall, another Alpha Plus school. Studied geography and education at Christchurch College, Kent University and then taught in a state school in Essex before taking off and travelling around Africa for a year, with her husband Simon. ‘I loved school and always wanted to be a teacher,’ she says with passion.
Marked her 50th birthday celebration with another trip to Africa (Namibia) with her husband - this youthful, warm and attractive head is a spirited and independent character who lives for the moment and is all about the ‘doing now.’ Indeed, it’s not often we come across a head who has zip-wired across the Thames to raise money for charity....

Special Education Needs
We consider all children for admission to the school who have the ability and aptitude to access an academic curriculum. Pupils who have SEND and are suited to the curriculum are welcome provided that we have the appropriate resources and facilities to provide them with the support that they require.
