Special Education Needs
Clippens is a happy school where the welfare of pupils, parents, and staff is valued. It is a special school for pupils with high level additional support needs. The school has a role of 61 pupils who have a wide range of barriers to learning including autism, and motor and sensory impairments. The school has four departments: primary, secondary, post-16, and also accommodates the Lismore Unit which is a provision for pupils who have autism and challenging behaviour. The school is viewed as a dynamic centre of excellence where there are high expectations for all. In addition to a school-based curriculum, much learning happens out of school with developing projects such as PE in the Community and a well established mainstream link programme. The school works hard to achieve an inclusive ethos in many different ways and this can be seen in the broad range of ways that the school supports learning.
