What the school says...

At Fernhill School, we aim to provide a safe and secure environment where your child can achieve their true potential. We accept both boys and girls from nursery age and they are able to progress through both primary and secondary departments. We provide: small classes, a wide range of activities; excellent results; a beautiful environment; transportation from all major areas in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire.

The secondary department has classes in all major academic subject.

Head teacher

Since 2014, Dr Laura Murphy BSc PhD PGDE (all in chemistry from Glasgow University), previously depute head, who took over from Theresa Hayburn, who had been in the post less than two years. Dr Murphy (whom we have not met) spent 22 years in chemical industry with ICI before becoming a teacher. Non-executive appointments include Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley Board, Street Child Africa (including a field trip to Ghana to observe projects) and Chemical Sciences Scotland (interested in helping to define government strategy for Scottish science education). A practising Catholic with a sense of social justice.

Academic matters
