School is academic but favours a non-competitive ethos, with girls encouraged to reach their own personal best, rather than wanting to beat their friends. Whole curriculum is delivered with care and kindness, backed up by diligence and resilience. We loved watching a year 1 number jumping game and found the year 6 discussion of Journey to the River Sea gripping and stimulating. Other features
All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Since 2019, Suzy Dixon, previously acting head, after which she took a 10-month break from school leadership to focus on educational research and consultancy work. Has previously held senior roles at Daneshill Prep, Highfield and Brookham Prep (while studying for her master’s in educational management at King’s College London), Downe House and Gateways School.
An English graduate (Leeds) with an artistic background, she told us she ‘married very young’ and ‘qualified later’ (PGCE from York). Her own three children – ‘now grown up’ – means she understands at a personal level the need to avoid pressurising the girls and to respond to different needs: ‘All mine are so different.’
Genial and smiley, her natural warmth is a hit with the girls, all of whom she greets...

Special Education Needs
As a school we really do not cater particularly for Special Needs Children - indeed one might struggle here. We have the occasional mild dyslexic but that is all but they do not get "special" treatment. I hope that is helpful.
