What the school says...
The key to our philosophy is that the pupil is at the centre of everything that the school does, a school where children can learn, mature and develop in different ways. This is a school that is flexible and subtle enough in the way it is run to be able to accommodate the needs and personalities of individual children, and to help them flourish and feel comfortable.
The school combines the highest standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care with a strong emphasis on a sense of community and traditional values based around our 5 Cs courtesy, care, cooperation, consideration and concentration. The school develops pupils self-confidence and provides opportunities for all children to mould themselves into skillful and well balanced individuals. The school encourages pupils to aim high, and values the childrens achievement in all aspects of school life.
The partnerships that are formed between pupils, staff and parents are an essential element to Ghyll Royds success. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their childs education; fostering strong communication between home and school to ensure their child realises his or her full potential from a very young age. The schools size means the pupils, staff and parents really get to know each other well. There is a tangible sense of community, creating a warm and enabling environment.

At Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School modern foreign languages, sport and creative arts as well as a wide range of other extra-curricular provision are easily accessible. Pupils of all ages have ample opportunities to find and shape their individual talents through our Learning Challenge Curriculum building their learning power through resilience, resourcefulness, reflectiveness and reciprocity.
