Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Special Education Needs

Greenfields School is an independent primary school for children aged 5-11 with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. Greenfields is part of the Goldwell Children's Home and the Peper Harow Foundation, the children's charity offering therapeutic residential, educational and outreach services to children and young people aged 5-18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Greenfields School has capacity for a maximum of 15 pupils - some living at Goldwell, others living locally - who are taught in small groups by well qualified staff. Greenfields School follows the National Curriculum to Key Stage 2 within a structured school week and has received an excellent Ofsted report. The Admissions Panel assesses each application. Greenfields School creates and maintains a safe and secure environment where children are encouraged through positive reinforcement to always try their best. Pupils are stimulated and challenged within their individual capabilities and benefit from clear instruction and well-planned activities designed to meet their needs, including a structured PHSE programme. Each child has an Independent Education Plan and Behaviour Management Plan and is expected to work with staff to write, review and set new targets on a termly basis. Every child at Greenfields is special and the School's aim is to ensure that each pupil has access to a broad and balanced curriculum in an environment that is safe, happy and stimulating, giving the child confidence and improving his/her self esteem. Greenfields makes sure that no child is disadvantaged in any area of the curriculum and has the opportunity of entering mainstream education if this is appropriate. Greenfields positive approach encourages pupils to treat adults and children with respect and courtesy and to remember that school is primarily a place of learning.
