Special Education Needs
Humberston Park School caters for pupils aged 2 - 19 years old, mainly subject to severe learning difficulties although there is a high proportion of children with extensive physical disabilities, complex or profound learning difficulties and additional sensory impairments. The school is committed to the principle of entitlement and access to a broad balanced and relevant curriculum. Blending of behaviourist and interactive approaches are reflected in reviewed recording formats and procedures as well as increased ranges of contexts for learning. We are here to provide a high quality needs led and balanced education which will maximise the pupil's potential in the areas of Physical and Sensory capability, Communication and Cognition as well as Personal and Social development. We will respect and recognise the contributions and achievements of all pupils as individuals. The school's building has been completely remodelled with new buildings and additional class areas attached. The landscaping of the outside areas is well underway. There is a safety surface play area with outside apparatus, a horticultural area and contained hard playgrounds. We plan to establish wildlife and sensory gardens in the near future.
