Hymers is an unpretentious place. Standards and expectations are high and exam results very commendable. Little, if anything, to match it locally. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Headmaster
Since September 2019, Justin Stanley (40s), previously deputy head at Hereford Cathedral School. Classics degree from Cambridge; previous posts include head of classics at Nottingham High and Manchester Grammar. He is married to Rachel and they have three children.
Entrance
Pupils who join the junior school before year 6 no longer have to sit the entrance tests for the senior school. All others at 11+ entry sit competitive exams in maths, English and verbal and non-verbal reasoning, plus interview with the headd Four-form entry, 108 places in all (about 30 for external pupils, remainder transferring from own junior school). For sixth form, five GCSEs at grade 6 or above required. About 12 or so enter at 16, replacing the similar number of leavers.
