Other features

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Since September 2017, Andrew Trythall (50s), 'by pure coincidence’ now in the very role his father held in the late 1970’s. A keen musician, educated at neighbouring Shebbear College before going onto the University of East Anglia to study music, where he specialised in recording engineering and electro-acoustic music followed by a PGCE. Father of four children, all accomplished musicians, the eldest in teaching, one studying journalism at Westminster, another in a gap year having done A levels at Kingsley and the youngest currently amongst the pupil cohort.

Engaging and warm, he comes to life when talking about family, travel and music. He and his wife Joy (also from Devon, been together since their teens) took their young children off to India on an adventure that led to 10 years living...
