Many pupils we spoke to mentioned the advantage of small class sizes. One girl talked of ‘being able to concentrate and not having groups of 30 to work round’. ‘Much more relaxed than a mainstream school,’ said a mum.  If overwhelmed and in need of a movement break, children can choose to access the sensory garden or go for a walk round the grounds

Since 2021, Mr Ian Peters BEd NPQH. Flew over from Canada in 1999 to pursue a career in non-league football and joined Thame Utd, supplemented by part-time supply teaching including in special education. Enjoyed it so much that he stayed, got married and settled here. After working at Pebble Brook School, Aylesbury, developing the secondary level science curriculum, he moved over to mainstream for a spell, but was drawn back to special needs. ‘I really loved the SEN environment’, he says, ‘I appreciate the ability to build a meaningful relationship – the development of the person, not of the topic.’
