It’s a nice touch that the head himself looks after some of the S1s. Mr S introduced the house system, which has been running since 2011. He was modest but proud of his achievements, saying: ‘I didn’t have ambition to be head,’ but feels ‘enormously privileged’ to do so. Future plans include improving on the school's already excellent reputation...

Since 2007, Dean Smith, BA in geography and Scottish history; teaching diploma from the former Jordanhill College of Education and the Scottish qualification for headship. Started his teaching career in 1983 at Cathkin High School, moving to the East London as head of media at Valentines High School. Moved back to Scotland to Calderhead High School and then deputy head at nearby Williamwood High School.
