This is a school that inspires a lot of loyalty, both from parents, old boys and the wider Monmouth community. The head noticed on his arrival a marked lack of 'town and gown' division and the crowd at the big rugby matches is swelled by locals. Although the first teams do very well regionally and nationally, everyone agrees the coaches show the same respect and commitment to the thirds. Parents say the teaching staff ‘get boys’, know how their brains work and can get them inspired academically...

Since 2015, Dr Andrew Daniel, who has a breadth of educational experience from the liberal, global atmosphere of his own student days at UWC Atlantic College, the University of East Anglia and Washington, Seattle, to the established British independent schools where he has forged his career – including head of maths at Taunton and senior deputy at Wellington School, Somerset. His PhD was on mathematical modelling of plate tectonics in Patagonia, though we refrained from questioning him on this. Andrew comes across as wise and experienced, a man you would seek out for educational advice.

Special Education Needs
The School is aware of, and sensitive to, boys with literacy difficulties and support is offered by a sympathetic and dedicated department. EAL support is given to those students where English is not their first language. We also offer numeracy support to a small number of pupils. 10-09
